The kids worked on traditional dances for weeks beforehand, and they asked Danielle and I to join in since the home has far more boys than girls. As you can see, I got the better costume.
One of the funny things about Peru is that people just regularly refer to being from the jungle. Like, the jungle. I never even really thought of the jungle as a real thing before coming to Peru. They called the dance below simply "Selva" which means jungle. The kids were SO cute in their facepaint and native costumes.
After the kids' dances and some songs, most of the younger kids scampered inside and there was a many-hours-long dance party. Peruvians love to dance, con or sin alcohol. So fun!
